The final destination is the Lame Dog Mine. It is an abandoned silver mine. There is a large outcropping of Jasper there too for you rockhounds!
We will meet at the Arco gas station on Courtwright Road and Hwy 95 in Fort Mohave at 9:30 am (Arizona time) Sunday, February 25, 2024. It is right before you turn to get to the bridge that goes over the river into Needles. There is a Thalypo gas station across the street from the Arco.
We will caravan from the Arco station to the Lame Dog Mine. We will be taking Interstate 40 West for about 20 miles, to the Water Road exit. There are about 8 more miles on a dirt road after exiting. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, but a two-wheel drive will work. There is one soft sand area but overall an easy drive.
The outing will be canceled if there is rain within 2 days of the 25th due to road conditions. We will update Facebook and send out an email if the outing is canceled.
Bring drinks, snacks, and a chair if you want to.
Wear/bring your badge.
Remember headphones are mandatory if you are metal detecting.
All times are Arizona time.
